Anderson named Athlete of the Week

He was nominated by GCHS wrestling Coach Josh McClure for having the team’s best record at 5-2.
“John gives 100 percent on the mat every time he steps up and wrestles,” said McClure
Anderson started wrestling when he was a freshman because it seemed fun and all of his friends encouraged him to try it.
“When I first stepped on the mat, I fell in love with it. It was like love at first sight,” said Anderson
“John is a great person in life. He has a great future in front of him, and he is a great wrestler. He gives it his all every time, and I am proud to call him my teammate,” said senior Phillip Duford.
“He is feared in the conference because they know he will not give up and give it his all at every moment,” McClure said.
Anderson is currently taking Physical Science, Algebra II, Business and Marketing, and United States History. He is currently undecided on which college he will attend.
Anderson is involved in 4-H, Greene County Youth Council, Greene County Teen Court, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, and JROTC Color Guard. He attends Covent of Faith in Hookerton.
“John is the busiest person I know, but he still comes early to practice and stays late. That is what I call commitment,” said McClure.
He is the son of Melvin and Gwen Anderson of Maury.
