Senior Curtis Braswell has been selected Greene Central’s Athlete of the Week for the first week in January.
Braswell was nominated by the men’s varsity basketball coach David Laton for his great effort on and off the basketball court.
“Curtis is one the most talented players I have ever seen. He plays football, basketball, and baseball. That is a huge commitment,” Laton said.
Braswell is currently averaging 11 points, four steals, and six rebounds a game.
“Curtis is the best defender I have ever seen, high school or college,” Laton said.
“I started playing basketball at a very young age because all my friends were playing and enjoying every minute of it; we used to play for hours at a time,” Braswell said.
Braswell’s goals for this season are to becoming a better leader and role model for his younger teammates.
Braswell is currently taking Art II, Algebra II, World History, and Spanish I.
He plans to attend either Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, or Fayetteville State University to major in Counseling.
